Monday Flag Raising Ceremony

I am not going to lie, I was terrified when I first started the Cadet Attachment Program at Baguio City Police Office. I was new, inexperienced, and a rookie in real-life police work. Nevertheless, it did not stand in my way of trusting the knowledge I got from PNPA and wits into absorbing the things around me. I acted as a Cadet and braced myself while personnel, commissioned officers, and the non-commissioned officer around me became curious.

The first day I started when we joined the Monday Flag Raising Ceremony. It was a prestige moment in my life, being in front of all the troops and them observing my actions as I sat there in awe at the moment. PCOL FRANCISCO BAYUBAY BULWAYAN JR talked about the values of ethics and how PNPA educates Cadets on the importance of it, especially concerning the honor code and the values it upholds. I took pride in his words, valuing the institution at a high standard.

​ Ethics plays a huge role in character building, where one needs to know the ethical principles considered in a norm. We, as Cadets, should always familiarize ourselves with the proper ethics while still inside the Academy because one might never know how useful it is outside. We have no character or moral concept to follow without ethics.

​ As someone who held on to the ethics I learned from the Academy, I can proudly say I was educated right. Ethics is our judgment based on our sense of morality, which we use in our daily routines without knowing. Without it, society will lose humanity towards another, and chaos will emerge as no principle is observed.

Cadets should act the way they should. What we show to the people reflects who we are, dramatically affecting the entire institution. The more snappy we offer, the more we can impress them. Remember that not everyone in the police station is a Lakan; others still question our leadership capabilities and whether to take responsibility.
