Life inside the Academy is different from the life we used to have outside, we left our loved ones and sacrificed our youth for the greater good of our future[1]. It is a breeding ground for leaders, isolated from life outside. All of us accept that life as part of the training is to build emotional stability. Once I entered, I promised myself that I will do everything to pursue my dreams.

Looking through the city lights viewed from the hills of the Academy, every Cadet wonders about the life outside and often feels low, imagining how people their age enjoys every bit of it. However, in this manner, they build strength, courage, and determination to hurdle all the struggles . This is it, the path that I choose. Perhaps, this is my calling to be part of the Philippine National Police. I will follow the footsteps that my dad once tracked-to be a police officer. This is an opportunity that will improve me as a leader, a better person, and of course a better servant of God.

I remember back in 2019, when I was still applying for PNPA, I wanted to be part of the long maroon line which I thought was easy. During the application in the medical phase where I discovered that I had three impacted teeth and was advised to remove them. The total operation amounted to 30,000 Pesos which become my biggest problem. I do not know where to find the money so I tried to double my income as a barista and took construction works near our house. I admit, I felt tired every day but I never quit. I always pray that God can help me and I strongly believe in him.

Until one day, God heard my prayers. My dentist felt pity for me and gave me a free operation because she heard that I was processing for PNPA. I cried at that moment and cannot believe what happened. She finally did my operation and did not charge me at any cost at all. I thank the Almighty Lord, for giving me a chance to apply. I know this is my time, but I promised to do my best and to return everything to the people of our country. Maybe this is the sign that God gives me the opportunity because I have a purpose to fulfill.

Being part of the Philippine National Police Academy is truly a blessing for me. All of these we look through as the gifts of life. A part of life that enables us to be strong and encourages us to overcome it no matter the situation. It helps us understand what went wrong and what actions to take to lessen our struggles. After all, these gifts of life all belong to the path we picked, to become the best that we can be as future Public Safety Officers of our beloved country.
