They say you create your fate, and everything in your life lies within your hands. Every choice you make, and your actions reflect who you are and what you learned inside this Academy. These grounds are mere practices of what will be like outside. We must internalize all our superior's teaching, for we might use them all soon when we are already assigned to the field. The greatest gift from God that you can have is the knowledge that you will utilize to set the grounds for your career as an officer.
Life in the Academy is not easy. Spending four years away from our family means great reasons for sacrifices[1]. We are considered brothers and sisters here to impart good conduct and be role models. Upperclassmen will guide them throughout their stay here. This is a leadership institution, not just an ordinary university, where students are free and can do everything they want.
We are practicing to lead and maintain the highest level of discipline even though no one is watching over us. We practice Integrity within ourselves and influence others to do so, which is the right thing to do. It is for us to impart not only to our classmates but to the whole Corps of Cadets.
In this world, no one will know our future. Predictions are invalid, and we should know our purpose in life. Others may tell us how stupid we are, but we can always grow and improve ourselves to prove them wrong. As they always say, as long as there is tomorrow, there are always chances for change for the improvement of ourselves and the growth of our character. Knowing your strength and weakness makes it your advantage, especially in facing tremendous challenges in life; you know your limitations, where to place yourself, and your power. You know when to build yourself in different situations.
We are taught to obey and seek guidance from the people who came before us because they have experience in the field we are about to take. Not everybody had the idealistic career they wanted, but all their learnings made them the best version of leaders they could be, the best version of themselves.
