Cadets of the Philippine National Police Academy visited Busol Watershed. It is the largest potable water source in the city of Baguio, making it one of the centerpieces of the city's environmental preservation programs. The area is a forest and water reservoir. It is bounded by the city of Baguio and La Trinidad town in Benguet. This is Baguio's life, and we cannot just sit down and wait until it deteriorates in full because, after all, the people of Baguio rely on this.
The city's efforts to restore the environment and stop urban degradation must be considered. The city also has the Eco-walk project, in which schools adopt certain areas of the reservation for their tree planting and management activities, allowing school children to experience being inside the forest and planting a tree that helps and brings great importance to our mother nature and investing appreciation for our mother nature.
I remember during our high school days at Baguio City National High School, we visited this watershed and planted trees to preserve it every year. Every time we went there, I always enjoyed its atmosphere. It is also heartwarming for me when we conduct activities like these. I may not benefit from it for now, but I know that the next generation of youth will not worry anymore due to the degradation of its forest. So, as future officers of this country, let us open the eyes of the public and the people we hold to keep preserving these kinds of forests and not let anyone destroy the beauty of our nature.
The security guard in the watershed always reminds us that this place is sacred and no one should not destroy any part of it. He encourages us to be part of the change we make for the future. He "always tell, "Water does not come from your faucets; it comes from the forest like Busol. That is why there is a need to preserve and plant trees and protect the watershed." The most priceless and vital gift that God has given us is nature, which allows us to live on earth that determines our survival. We should be grateful to nature for supporting, guiding, and protecting us from natural calamities [1].
As a future Public Safety Officer, I would like to preserve nature because we are the sole proprietor of nature. We are the ones to take care of this for our future. Let us encourage the youth to help us make a change to make this world a place to live. Earth is the city of gardens, a gift from heaven with beautiful geographic features. But it is sad to mention that such wonderful gifts from God dwindle over time due to technological development and widespread misunderstanding. The reason why we are here is to take care of our nature and influence others.
